Bernie Nelson - Blue, just sat listening to the album once again, this is one album I have close to hand, as Bernie has a great gentle country style to his music. The songs sound familiar, not in the way that you have heard them before, but like an old friend, great to listen to again, chat about anything in life. The album has 13 songs of varying style, all with their own beat that bring you close to the words he sings. The Album starts with Plainview, a tradditional sounding Country track, followed by Watching her say Goodbye, this is a more up tempo song that makes your foot tap for sure, maybe even would be tempted to dance to it. Saving That for You closely follows has a strong beat, and goes back in style with a simple message. Then Little Bit hits you, now this will get you dancing, maybe a song for the 14th Feb. If I Know Blue is a sad feeling song, about lost love, but it is followed by a great love song, I'D Love You Anyway Now we get to track 7, and Bernie seems to get in trouble with the law, in this swinging tune Locked Up In Lubbock, track 8 is a Moment with the Moon, romance again plays on the heart... then we have the one song that I always love to play, and have done so a few times now on my show too, it is Scarecrow, just like the intro of this song, to me that sounds so country, and the deep voice proclaiming the words of the song... it make me think of the wild west as it really was, a hard life as hard today as it was 100 years ago... able to loose everything, no matter how much you work and dream. Stays in Honky Tonk, a wonderful strumming sound to create the beat of the song, a very good modern take on Honky Tonk sounds to give you a story of life. Now we only have three songs to the end, I'm Just Thirsty, is a more gentle tune, of a man who is thirsty, but not thristy for drink... listen to the song to get the message. Put Your Foot On The Gas is a positive song, to follow your dream, and putting your foot on the gas, with a great foot tapping beat. We then end up at track 13, time has flown by, and now Lonelyville a love song full of great metaphors... To sum up, I would really recomend this album to anyone, a deffinate 5 stars, and an album I will wear out I am sure from all the plays it is getting on my hi-fi. http://www.bernienelsonmusic.com/listening-room.html |
