Erich McMann's latest album is called Trucker's Country, this album builds on Erich's unique sound with that Western Swing Twang to his music, with his great song writing ability and distinctive voice makes this a great foot tapping album. The first track is Trucker Country, the title track of the album which is a gentle introduction to the album telling you about trucking from the point of view of the driver. Keep On Truckin' is the second song which is more up tempo with a really good foot tap beat, just keeping the driver driving to get the job done, even when tired, as you only have a couple of miles to go. This brings us into Big Rig Rollin' which starts with a great guitar intro, always looking as a stranger where ever the truck goes, a strong feeling of the beat of a truck running on the open highway. We then reach the 4th track, Guilty As Pleaded, the song of a trucker admitting his guilt of when he had a good time in a Honky Tonk Bar with someone else, and how he feels guilty about it. No story telling album would not be without a blues song, and Erich does not disappoint with The Trucker Blues, this song of course tells how the trucker feels lonely and blue without his special person in his life. Track six is Mona, a very up beat tempo song, to get you dancing, singing about Mona and what she does for a living on the sunset strip. This next song has a gentle swing to it, Make It Tonight, looking for that lost feeling, just wanting it tonight before he goes once more on the road again. The Black Road Boogie is the 8th track, of course telling us about how we all have had that moment as we hit black ice and we get that little dance along the road. The Key To My Heart, tells how the truck driver feels the love of his life breaks his heart, all because he was on the road so much. Truckin' Daddy, is the song that explains how truck driving can be in the blood, passed from father to son, the son always wanting here the stories when his father returns or having those rides in his fathers truck. Already we have reached the end of the album, with the final song, She's Gonna Miss Her Man, a great gentle love song to finish the album.
To sum up, this is a great collection of trucker songs, covering nearly all aspects of the life of a trucker running long distance in his truck, many nights away from home. If you like Western Swing and trucks, would recommend this album for you, our rating for this album is 8 out of 10, it is a specialist type of album, but a well written and very good to listen to from track 1 to 11 in the order Erich has put them in.
