Suzy Bogguss, and her latest album Lucky, well, what can I say about this artist and this album. I have been lucky to see her play live earlier this year in Glasgow, including listening to some of the stories behind this album and of course hearing the songs live. She is a wonderful entertainer and this album does not disappoint on that front. The songs are all from the pen of Merle Haggard, (either by himself or in colobration with others) and this album is Suzy's tribute to him, and she does the songs justice with her soft sweet voice, it's definately her own version of these songs. Her version of Silver wings is one of the best I have heard, and the song, "The Bottle Let Me Down" is wonderful, but live she added extra about how she was wishing she had some Gin on stage. The 5th song on the Album starts to pick up the speed a little and starts to make your foot tap just a little, with "If We Make it Through December" This carries on through to "The Running Kind" which I could almost dance to... if I was inclined to dance that is... Overall though, the album is a relaxing treat, ideal for a sunday morning. It is another album I would recommend you look for. http://suzybogguss.com/home.html |
